Psalm 25: 1-10 NIV
In you, LORD my God,
I put my trust.
2 I trust in you;
do not let me be put to shame,
nor let my enemies triumph over me.
3 No one who hopes in you
will ever be put to shame,
but shame will come on those
who are treacherous without cause.
4 Show me your ways, LORD,
teach me your paths.
5 Guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are God my Savior,
and my hope is in you all day long.
6 Remember, LORD, your great mercy and love,
for they are from of old.
7 Do not remember the sins of my youth
and my rebellious ways;
according to your love remember me,
for you, LORD, are good.
8 Good and upright is the LORD; therefore he instructs sinners in his ways.
9 He guides the humble in what is right.
THE READING:
The Latin word from which we get the English word decide means to cut off every other option.
Life dictates, makes it imperative, that we make a number of pivotal decisions.
Life demands a “decide”
Though our life paths seem to offer many options, for worship and trustworthiness. Hopefully, it is clear to the wise that at some point along life’s circuitous route it might be best to decide to trust God.
In our youth we questioned convention, experimented with the non-traditional, danced near the fire, played with matches, and got burned. We’ve created our own truth, and treachery and been victims of both. Perhaps this is the way of youth or foolishness, or the way of foolish youth.
God has forgiven our wandering, answered questions, debrided, salved, and bandages our burns.
But older can mean wiser and we now decide.
And ask for God’s mercy, and love, getting what we don’t deserve.
To grace love and mercy we humble ourselves.
Now knowing it is God who has made us and not we ourselves.
With experience the teacher, the lesson learned is that the other gods are none,
God, we put our trust in you alone, our hope in, you is sure We shall not be put to shame.
PRAYER
God, we make our decide to put our hope in you. Save us from our enemies, don’t let them triumph over us. Be to us the God of many deliverances. We trust our hope is not misplaced. We believe we will not be put to shame. Thank you, God for your mercy endures forever and your steadfast love never ceases. Amen!
